Largest Community Tree-Planting Event in America Set for March 20 Mar 11, 2021 at 02:11 pm by WGNS
In what organizers believe is the largest community tree planting event in America, thousands of volunteers have registered to plant more than 50,000 native trees including every county in the state during Tennessee Tree Day, taking place March 20, 2021. The event includes 112 community tree pickup sites and more than 4,000 individual tree-planting locations. The event is organized every year by Tennessee Environmental Council, a non-profit organization based in Nashville, with Tennessee s Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry playing a vital role in this event.
“In a rough pandemic year, it is heartwarming to see thousands of volunteer participants planting trees and planting hope for our future,” says Cynthia Hernandez, Tree Program Manager at Tennessee Environmental Council.

A number of ambassadors yesterday participated in the ‘Plant Million Tree’ initiative of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
The event was organised by the MME represented by the Public Parks Department in collaboration with Al Wakra Municipality. Ambassadors of Iran, Argentina, the Republic of Panama, Ghana, and the Republic of Costa Rica in the country planted saplings of different trees in order to encourage such initiative. Mansour Ajran Al Buainain, Director of Al Wakra M u n i c i p a l i t y , O m a r Muhammad Al Jaber, Head of the Parks Section in Al Wakrah Municipality, and a number of officials and engineers of the Parks Section in Al-Wakrah Municipality attended the event.
GREAT FALLS, Mont. - Good Samaritans are coming together help students better adjust to remote learning. Their mission: to give everyone a âdesk of their own.â
Through time spent under quarantine this year we ve learned how important a designated workspace can be, especially for students learning from home this year. People in Great Falls are hand- making and delivering over 100 wooded desks to provide some structure.
Gaines McFadden, a master woodworker, Dan Oakland, Gordon Johnson, and many others use tools donated from Ace Hardware and Johnson/Madison to build 130 wood desks for students from Kindergarten through sixth grade. Donations fully funded this project, GFPS receiving donations from the Rotary Club of Great Falls and many local businesses. Each desk takes over two hours to make, and volunteers have spent close to 325 hours providing school-room to help remote learners. McFadden said he considered underprivileged children who might not have their own desk space
